Geographical location
The territory of the commune of Chalais extends over an area of 2,435 ha. It stretches from the left edge of the Rhone plain (520 m.) to the extreme limit of the alpine lawn (La Brinta 2,659 m.) It occupies the entire interfluve, in an east-west direction, between the Rèche and the Navizence.
Today, the villages of Chalais, Réchy, the resort of Vercorin and the hamlet of Briey form a single, beautiful commune with nearly 3,200 inhabitants, even though Vercorin, in the peak tourist season, can accommodate more than 4,500 guests.
Access
Access to the commune is by train via Sierre station, located 5 km away, or Sion station, located 15 km away. Chalais is connected to the A9 motorway and the Sierre-Ouest motorway exit is directly in our commune.
